Thin Bodied 17″ Archtop

Thin Bodied 17″ Archtop

The design of this 17″ archtop was heavily influenced by the Gibson L5CT “George Gobel” guitar.  The body is 17″ wide and 2 3/8 deep at the edge. The X-braced soundboard was carved from master grade Sitka spruce and the back was carved from very curly Bigleaf maple.  The body features 7 ply bindings, while the fretboard and peghead have 5 layers.  The an ebony fretboard has a 24 3/4″ scale and mother-of-pearl block inlays. The pickup is a hand wound Kent Armstrong Johnny Smith model. The 3 piece neck is maple and walnut. The tuners are by Kluson.

This guitar is very powerful acoustically and quite well balanced from string to string. The thin design of the body and the slim 1 3/4″ wide neck make it a pleasure to play.
