Orchestra Archtop Deluxe
This is a more heavily ornamented version of my Orchestra Archtop, a guitar that has been very popular for many years. Originally inspired by the simplicity of design and incredible tone of a 1938 Gibson L7, I used the same bracing pattern but chose to dress this guitar up with many more layers of purfling, different inlays, an ebony tailpiece and a few other changes.
The body is 17″ wide at the lower bout and 3 1/8″ deep at the edge. The scale length is 25″ on an ebony fretboard. The neck is 1.77″ wide at the nut. I installed Grover Imperial tuners with an 18:1 ratio. Although it is currently set up as an acoustic instrument, the guitar could easily be outfitted with a pickup and/or a pickguard.
Tonally, the guitar is bright, but quite well balanced. It projects very well and has great sustain.
Comes in a fiberglass case.
