15″ Mahogany Archtop

15″ Mahogany Archtop

Here is a small, carved archtop that has become quite popular.  The body is 15″ wide in the lower bout and 2 5/8″ deep at the edge.

The soundboard is made with solid Sitka spruce, carefully carved for optimum tone.  It is parallel braced.  The back and sides are made with Sapele mahogany. The neck is one piece Honduran mahogany, reinforced with a two-way truss rod. Maple bindings surround the body, as well as the sound holes, fretboard and peghead. Ebony is used for the fretboard, peghead, pickguard, bridge and carved tailpiece.

I incorporated a zero fret on this guitar, primarily because it creates a consistent tone from fretted notes to open strings. Many people also feel that the zero fret helps with intonation. This guitar has a 24 5/8″ scale length. The neck is 1.73″ wide at the zero fret and 2.14″ at the 14th fret. It is 0.80″ deep between the nut and the 1st fret and 0.91″ at the 10th fret.  String spacing at the bridge is 2 3/16.”

This instrument has a Seymore Duncan Seth Lover pickup with soundboard mounted volume and tone controls.
